Stressed Out Moms

Breast feed or bottle feed, co-sleep or use a crib, cry it out or comfort? SO many choices to consider when your little one is, well, little. And it’s not exactly like you can figure it all out on your own. But EVERYONE seems to have an opinion they are sure you NEED to hear. And how does everyone get to those opinions? And why do they think they know more about what’s best for your baby than you? Being a mom is one of the best and the hardest things you will ever do. Virginia Online Therapy is here to help stressed out moms!

Do you find yourself looking around at all the other moms who seem to have it all under control and make it look easy? Well guess what, they are faking it until they make it. And you most likely are too. You just know how insecure and scared you feel sometimes, or a lot of times. Much like all the happy families on Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat, who don’t post about their child’s tantrum in Target or when their teenager screamed and slammed her bedroom door when she was told her outfit didn’t cover enough skin, we don’t talk about what’s going on behind the scenes.

Even though most moms will tell you they feel insecure about being a good parent at least some of the time, we often don’t let other moms know, that we know, that what they are doing is tough. And finding someone who is willing to do that for you may be hard.

That’s where I come in!

Not only have I raised 3 very different children, with my own parenting horror stories for each of them (they are all in their 20’s now so I did successfully get them through the teen years) but I sit with stressed out moms all the time who need some reassurance they are doing the best they can.

And that is exactly what your goal should be as a mom…to be the best mom you can be.

That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask questions of your pediatrician, read parenting books or magazines, or talk to another mom you admire, perhaps your own mom or someone you trust, but it’s more about giving yourself the grace you deserve and are probably giving others.

We women find it so hard to give grace to ourselves.

Sometimes it helps to have an objective person help you see that you are doing just fine. You’ll still be tired, that lasts through the teens years I’m afraid, but you can start getting a clearer picture of how you are doing at the mom thing, and hopefully learn to relax a little and enjoy the ride.
